The Academy clanhall is in; I actually wrote an area that's in a public game. Weird. o.O Go see if you want, it's on the causeway between Moorgate and Stormport (halfway, in fact). If you tell me first, I'll log in and let you into the restricted parts.

What would be features of your ideal MUD?

Anything, but be specific. Don't say "It'd be like [game name]!" What specifically do you like about it, and how does that bit work?

Pretend for the sake of argument that I will build the features you describe into a new MUD of +10 awesomeness just for you. Tell me what I'd need to know.

So let's hear 'em...

1) Reasons to play Cosrin.
2) Reasons not to play Cosrin.

Comment with at least one of each, at most however many you can think of. Try not to post what other people have already posted.

Pros
Some good roleplay.

Cons
$$$ (duh)
Low-quality area descriptions (my current pet peeve)

The look of this jounrnal is bland. Perhaps the creator or whatever could make it look pretty? Maybe change mr. stun jelly for a bit...he's getting old.

Just suggestions

Hiyas, I play Bless in Cosrin and have been in game for about 3 1/2 years now. I try to RP more than hunting simply because I like it more and frankly I am not much good at hunting. My question which I would like to throw out to those of you that know me is this. What do you think of Bless? Does he RP well? Does he stay in character or change too often? Any information you can give will be appreciated. What could he do to add to the game more than he does? I have several other chars that I have tried to use but like Bless the most and think I will dedicate to him only now. And just so you know I have other chars higher than him but for some reason I am hooked on Bless so I wish to make the most of him that I can. Again thanks for any insight.

Ron

I've logged into cosrin maybe three or 4 times in the past 6 months...and I've noticed a distinct difference to what it used to be. Is it just because it's been so long, or is there really a difference?

I mean, I notice so many people I don't know, and I see a distinct lack of roleplay, even more so than what I saw before I 'left'. I know that there are a couple things going on, like the Raistlyn/Clio thing, but mostly what I see is hunt, hunt, hunt. Frankly, I have no interest in hunting anymore. It just seems trivial to spend my time sitting at the computer pressing macro buttons (you know e;;w;;e;;w and t;;cast soul leech...not the illegal macro thingys) when I could be trying to involve myself in some play-acting instead.

I did notice some good, though...I've seen than many older players have come back, and that's wonderful. Delphi, Ninny are two I've noticed...any other older players back that I haven't seen?

Laters.

You blurt out "AHA!"
Senalia asks 'Ooh, what's that?'
Senalia points elsewhere.
Lunysgwen says 'Eh? '
Senalia shoves you into the fountain!
Lunysgwen shouts "ACK!" and looks guilty.
You give a little giggle.

Admittedly this is only peripherally related to Cosrin, but here's a fun
little game you guys might be interested in.

walk.game-host.org:4000

Its cursory relation is that Melvin puts in an appearance ;) except he's
a bit easier to kill in this one (depending on what you're fighting
with.)

It's simple, it's one-shot (you die, you're dead), nothing is saved
(neither characters nor maps) and it's strangely addicting.

I could cut anyone out of my life and wouldn't take a second glance. People are easy. They come and go. Not a problem. Everyone in my class at college could turn against me, hate me then leave and I probably wouldn't even bat an eyelid (more than normal anyway), but how the hell do I give up Cosrin? People are easy, but Cosrin should be easier.

I'm not bored with it, nor does it frustrate me (not directly anyway), but how dare anything have such control over me. I can pretty much have control over most of how I feel about important things - I can resist the pathetic urge to fall in "love" or have some kind of attraction to someone, but why not Cosrin? Its a G.a.m.e for god sake.

Ahem, anyhow, Yes, hello! Any bits of advise/insight on this matter would be greatly appericated.

I generally play for a single hour at a time, but when I do, I hunt like a machine (seriously). I hunt Longford as is it's easy experience, good money, and very low threat (Sorcerer).

After 1 hour of dedicated (only pausing to wait for confusion to wear off) hunting:

18.22% land level gained (.50% cityrank).
770 creatures killed, 764,202 damage dealt, 3693 damage taken.
76,872 gold earned (~half spent on draughts)
(level 97)

What're your hunting habits?

Although Relsqui created this community, and I obviously do not have any control of what happens with the community, I thought it would be appropriate to make a post of the guidelines of this community as it is being used more often.

This is an OOC fan group of Cosrin players. Since it is <OUTSIDE of Cosrin, anything posted cannot be used against any person's IC persona. Barring extreme vulgarity (which, by the way, will be dealt with by this community's members, and NOT Cosrin's staff). In the (already seen) instance that another player is offended, the members of this community maintain their rights to post whatever it is that they wish to post, this is not In-game harassment, and so long as the posts here do not ever enter Cosrin, there is no infringement of Cosrin's rules. No persons and/or characters may be held responsible in Cosrin for what is posted here. This is a free, OOC environment and is not subject to Cosrin's (more-often-than-not) dictatorial rulings.

The general rules (for members) of this community is as follows.

  • Keep all posts related to Cosrin.
  • Keep vulgarity to a minimum (when possible, and even then, still try to maintain decency)
  • Keep all posts strictly OOC, this is not Cosrin, this is a discussion medium for Cosrin, while not in Cosrin.
  • Any and all material posted here is to remain here.
  • Have fun.

That's all. If this post was wholly unnecessary, then I apologize.

Feel free to make your own additions and revisions on what I already have, and when we have a finished product, I will post it on the Cosrin forums with added credits to contributors.

Click on the LJ-cut link below to view it.

Edit: I wrote this originally with Cosrin forum HTML in mind, which is why there's the bracketed parts. LJ and Cosrin's forums have different HTML tags.

As the chocolate was going to my head i decided to read some more into this community. I've read some posts and i must say for those who have posted actually did have good complaints. Now i cant say you all have but the majority.

While reading a post about under developed characters i came up with an idea. A survey form thingie people can fill out about their character. Their statistics, past and all sorts of questions. This way they can keep in line with their character and wont stray into cute kitten mode while being an evil warlock. I know its probably not the first time someone has come out with this but i haven't seen any around at all.

Take a breath with me, this might actually work. Let me give you an example.

For Character Not Your Real Self.
    Name:
    Reason For This Name:
    Nickname:

    Class:
    Race:

    Height:
    Weight:
    Eye Color:
    Hair Color:
    Length Of Hair:
    Body Build:
    Skin Tone:
    Marks on the body:

Then it would go into favorites, background, personality and so forth. For the whole survey when i'm finished i'll post it up. But what do you think?

Also someone should make a tutorial on how to RP. Maybe give some helpful tips on using emotes, how to go along with it, action sequences etc.. I'm just throwing this out here. It might be useful, i know i could've used it. I learned the hard way.
Some opinions on this would be nice.

By the way i would happen to be Kyrie IC.
